“My holy of holies is the human body, health, intelligence, talent, inspiration, love and absolute freedom- freedom from violence and falsehood, no matter how the two manifest themselves.”  Chekhov

The Peace Villa is currently a business idea where a resort and intentional community combine with an international theme and a social agenda to promote cultural understanding and peace within environmental guidelines.  A key agenda is to approach this through the support of functional crafts both here in the United States and abroad.  See Vision for how the idea came into being.  We are currently seeking investors and partners to make the vision come true.

Basic Description and Mission

The Peace Villa is a vacation resort and an intentional community with an international theme, dedicated to the advancement of cultural understanding, world peace and environmental sustainability.

As a resort, it offers guests a safe place for relaxation, growth and interaction with people of many different cultural and economic backgrounds.  Creativity inspired by native peoples abounds.  As an intentional community, it seeks to structure itself by embracing an ethical code where nature and human development can co-exist in harmony.  The Peace Villa owns and operates the hospitality services it provides and serves as an incubator for several site businesses, including an ethnic gallery, a spa and an organic café.

Core concept:  The Peace Villa is made up of dwellings representing different regions of the world.  Each dwelling is inspired by architectural styles of that region and decorated with regional crafts representing native peoples and artists.  The dwellings honor peacemakers from the area and house a host family native to that region.  Example: India House honors Gandhi and houses a family from India.  Everything in the house (furniture, soap, linens, etc.) is from India.

The Peace Villa offers programming centered around cultural events (music, dance, exhibits) and the production, marketing and support of functional craft, especially fairly traded and artisan represented.
