I made this quilt for my ex-husband, Mohammed Taibi, for Christmas, 2006. I tried a new technique that I hadn't used before. The quilt is made of 20 squares that have been "pillowed". Each one is sewn face to face with a square of batting, flipped, closed and then all are sewn to each other using a zig-zag stitch. I machine-quilted loosely, following the ditch in most cases. When I asked him about colors, he said "Anything bright. My favorite color is brown." My fiber art group had a good laugh at that, but in truth it is surprising how bright and colorful brown can be. The heart and arms are appliquéd on. There are seven 3-d dogwood flowers (representing Paducah and my new favorite flower...), one for each day of the week. I used a Japanese folding technique with yo-yos in the middle of each one. This was also the first piece where I used all new fabrics. December 2006
