November 2010 Greetings! You are receiving this email because you are my friend, a family member, a customer, or a former or current participant in one of my Rayela Art programs. This email's main purpose is to launch my new email newsletter service with Mail Chimp. If you would like to receive Rayela Art News in the future, please sign up in the form below. This will be the only email I am sending out in this format. Future Rayela Art news will come only to those who subscribe.
Since I have your attention for this one time, I would like to give you an update on what has been happening. This has been a full year of growth and there is a lot going on. I will give a snippet of the projects I have been working on below. Please feel free to contact me for more information or details. Giving Thanks! We celebrate Thanksgiving at this time here in the United States. I am thankful for all of my family and friends who have been such a great support over the last year and on into the past. I thank all of you who have supported my Etsy shop and purchased from me in the past. And, I am so thankful for the wonderful artist and business community that has grown around me, especially in this last year through TAFA.
"50 Years" Celebrating my parent's Anniversary in September
Thanksgiving is also the time when all of us retailers hope for a good Holiday shopping season. The day after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday, not because it is funereal, but because it can bring a business that was in the red back into black. 30% of our sales for a year can happen in those few weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. As my thank you to you, I am offering a 25% off discount on anything in my Etsy shop through Black Friday. Woo hoo! This is a significant savings on the higher end products like ralli quilts and larger textiles. Unfortunately, I will not be able to offer my usual shipping discounts along with the sale.
Other Etsy Shops: I also manage two other shops on Etsy:
Afghan Tribal Arts imports directly from Afghanistan and its neighboring countries. The shop focuses on vintage jewelry, beads and small textiles. I also started a blog for their retail gallery in South Carolina, Sturee Tribal Village.
Oshiwa is a small fair trade carving group in Namibia. They specialize in carving stamps that can be used to print on fabric, paper or pressed into clay or soap. All of the products in the three etsy shops (Rayela Art, Afghan Tribal Arts and Oshiwa) are at my house and can be shipped together. They have separate check out systems, but I can refund extra shipping charges through Pay Pal. The Thanksgiving sale is only valid on the Rayela Art shop. TAFA: The Textile And Fiber Art List
I launched TAFA in February of 2010 with the mission of helping fiber artists and textile businesses access larger markets through social media and programs we create. At over 200 members now, it has become a full time job for me. Each member has a profile on our main site, www.tafalist.com, and then subgroups meet in different places like facebook (over 1200 fans!), flickr and etsy. Our latest effort, forming an Etsy Team has been an intense yet rewarding experience. We now have a beautiful blog with a Catalog of Shops: www.tafateam.blogspot.com. Visit it and click on the category tabs to visit almost 100 shops that excel in the textile and needle arts. Lots and lots of Christmas gifts are waiting there! TAFA is ready to move into other ventures that address the needs other members have: wholesale capacity, trade shows, gallery shows, and so on. We have formed a focus group which will explore ideas and options after the New Year. As you can see, life is full! The Rayela Art newsletter will cover developments in all of these areas. I invite you to walk with me into this beautiful field of creative energy! Newsletters will be sent out once every month or so and you can also follow updates on facebook (Rayela Art, Afghan Tribal Arts, Sturee Tribal Village and TAFA all have pages there), or on my blog, www.fiberfocus.blogspot.com. Wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful celebration of the Holiday Season. -Rachel Biel aka Rayela Art
